In a cryptic but explosive post on X (formerly Twitter), the veteran singer claimed he was duped by Mutesi last year and suggested that more shocking details would soon be revealed.

“This woman @mutesi_jolly stays in the UK and she always watches Arsenal games. She conned me last year in the name of Rwanda, Arsenal Football Club and now she’s on another big mission. Full story loading,” Bebe Cool posted.

The post immediately sparked widespread speculation across Uganda and Rwanda, with many demanding answers about the nature of the alleged transaction and the amount of money involved.

However, by Tuesday evening, neither Bebe Cool nor Mutesi had publicly provided details regarding the alleged scam, leaving many questions unanswered.

Who Is Jolly Mutesi?

The allegations have thrust Mutesi back into the public spotlight.

A household name in Rwanda, Mutesi rose to fame after being crowned Miss Rwanda 2016 at just 20 years old. The beauty queen went on to make history as the first Miss Rwanda representative at the prestigious Miss World 2016 competition held in the United States.

Following her reign, she transitioned into entrepreneurship, motivational speaking and advocacy work focused on girls’ rights and women’s empowerment.

For years, she cultivated an image as a role model and social activist, frequently appearing at youth empowerment events and public engagements.

Yet this is not the first time her name has surfaced in connection with an alleged scam.

In 2022, Mutesi herself was reportedly targeted by one of Southern Africa’s most notorious fraudsters, Thabo Bester.

According to reports at the time, Bester allegedly offered her what appeared to be a lucrative job opportunity in South Africa. The scheme was only uncovered after intervention by Rwandan authorities and diplomatic officials, who warned her that the offer was fraudulent.

Ironically, Mutesi was widely portrayed as a victim who narrowly escaped a sophisticated scam.

Bebe Cool’s Bombshell

Now, four years later, the tables appear to have turned.

Bebe Cool’s allegations suggest that Mutesi may have used her connections, reputation, or claims of influence involving Rwanda and Arsenal to persuade him into a deal.

The singer’s reference to Arsenal has particularly fueled curiosity, with observers wondering whether the alleged arrangement involved sponsorship opportunities, business networking, football-related partnerships, celebrity appearances, or investment opportunities.

The veteran musician has not disclosed how much money he allegedly lost, whether formal agreements existed, or whether law enforcement agencies have been notified.

His promise that the “full story” is still loading suggests additional revelations could be forthcoming.

Reputation at Stake

The accusations come at a time when celebrity fraud allegations are attracting heightened public attention across East Africa.

Public figures often leverage their influence, networks and social standing to facilitate business deals, endorsements and international partnerships. But such arrangements can also create fertile ground for disputes when expectations are not met or promised opportunities fail to materialize.

For Mutesi, the allegations pose a potentially significant reputational challenge.

As a former national beauty queen and advocate for women’s empowerment, her public image has largely been built around trust, leadership and social impact.

Should Bebe Cool provide evidence to support his claims, the controversy could escalate beyond social media and into legal territory.

Conversely, if the allegations prove unfounded, Mutesi could seek to defend her reputation against what may amount to damaging public accusations.

Silence from Mutesi

As of publication, Mutesi had not publicly responded to Bebe Cool’s claims.

Neither Rwandan authorities, Arsenal Football Club nor any law enforcement agency had issued statements regarding the matter.

For now, the saga remains a story of allegation versus silence, with the public awaiting the “full story” promised by one of Uganda’s most outspoken entertainers.

Until more details emerge, the truth behind Bebe Cool’s explosive claims—and what exactly happened between the singer and the former Miss Rwanda—remains shrouded in mystery.
