Comedy took centre stage at the sold-out 2 Kings One Mic show held at Kampala Serena Hotel on Friday, October 23, as Patrick “Salvador” Idringi and Dr. Hillary Okello entertained audiences with storytelling, sharp observations and humour drawn from everyday life.
Powered by I&M Bank, the show offered a reminder that comedy can command an evening on its own, without relying on music performances or DJ sets to keep audiences entertained.
With a relatively lean line-up, the programme allowed each performer to connect with the crowd through a distinct comedic style, gradually building anticipation for the two headline acts.
Dr. Mitch Egwang hosted the evening, guiding proceedings and maintaining the energy between performances.
Janzi Band opened the show with lively renditions of popular songs from different genres, welcoming guests and setting the mood before the comedians took over.
Female stand-up comedian Cotilda Inapo was the first to hit the stage, warming up the audience with her trademark humour and relatable takes on everyday experiences. Her performance established the playful tone that carried through the rest of the evening.
She was followed by Okello Okello, a comedian and film actor whose distinctive delivery and stage presence added variety to the line-up and kept the audience engaged.
Dr. Hillary Okello then took the microphone, drawing on his trademark storytelling to find humour in current affairs, social trends and ordinary situations. His ability to turn familiar experiences into punchlines, combined with sharp observations and well-timed delivery, helped him establish a strong connection with the audience.
His set demonstrated how shared social experiences and seemingly mundane situations can provide rich material for comedy when presented with wit, insight and impeccable timing.
Salvador closed the show with an energetic performance marked by polished delivery, commanding stage presence and carefully timed jokes. Moving between everyday observations and social commentary, he reinforced the qualities that have earned him a loyal following across Africa.
One of the evening’s most memorable moments came when Salvador interrupted his set to ask the audience to give special recognition to his mother, who was in attendance. The heartfelt gesture offered a personal touch to a night otherwise dominated by laughter.
Despite their extensive experience and familiarity with live audiences, both headliners maintained the crowd’s enthusiasm throughout their performances. The audience responded with resounding applause and standing ovations, signalling its appreciation of the comedy on display.
The event attracted a diverse audience comprising politicians, business leaders, socialites and comedy enthusiasts, united by their shared enjoyment of the performances.
I&M Bank Uganda Limited supported the show as its official banking partner, alongside Uganda Waragi, SafeBoda, The Living Group, Aquafina, Pepsi, Euro Gold Refinery and Virah Forex Bureau.
For I&M Bank, the event presented an opportunity to engage customers through entertainment and shared experiences beyond conventional banking services.
“Comedy has a way of bringing people from all walks of life into one room, sharing the same moment. We are glad to have supported ‘2 Kings One Mic’ and to see our customers enjoy an evening filled with laughter. This is what being On Your Side means to us: being part of the moments that matter to our customers,” said Annette Nakiyaga, the bank’s Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications.
Ultimately, 2 Kings One Mic delivered an evening centred on the craft of comedy, with Salvador and Dr. Hillary Okello demonstrating how relatable stories, social commentary and strong stage presence can sustain an entire show. With music setting the tone at the beginning and comedy taking the spotlight thereafter, the event celebrated Uganda’s growing entertainment scene.
