Leadership is not built in isolation. It is shaped through access to knowledge, intentional communities, mentorship and opportunities that allow people to grow.
This belief sits at the heart of The African Sisters Network (TASN), an organization steadily building a movement of resilient women leaders across Africa by creating spaces where women can learn, connect and develop the confidence to lead in every area of their lives.
On Saturday, 4th July 2026, hundreds of women gathered at MOTIV in Bugolobi for the third edition of Brunch and Learn, TASN’s flagship leadership event designed to equip women with practical tools for navigating careers, businesses and personal growth.
Under the theme “Become Unstoppable: Building Resilience to Propel Your Career and Business Forward,” the event attracted women from different parts of Uganda, including Karamoja, Bunyangabu District and Kampala, all united by one goal: to strengthen themselves and grow as leaders.
The atmosphere reflected the diversity and ambition of the women in the room. Entrepreneurs showcased their businesses, professionals exchanged ideas, and emerging leaders connected with women who had walked similar journeys before them.
While the event carried the energy of a celebration, its foundation was deeply rooted in a critical leadership lesson: resilience is built.
It develops through challenges overcome, lessons learned, relationships nurtured and the courage to continue evolving.
For TASN Founder Victoria Nyanzi Ateenyi, this is the reason the organization exists.
During her opening remarks, Nyanzi shared that Brunch and Learn is not an isolated event but part of a wider mission to create lasting transformation among women and girls.
In 2025, TASN launched Mission 2040, a long-term vision to impact one million African girls over fifteen years through mentorship, leadership development, coaching and community-building initiatives.
“Every room we build, every programme we run and every woman we empower brings us one step closer to that vision,” Nyanzi shared.
Since launching in 2024, TASN has continued to expand its programmes and platforms, creating multiple pathways through which women and young leaders can access growth opportunities.
Through the Sisterhood Academy and initiatives such as CEO of My Life, the organization has directly impacted more than 200 women, helping them develop leadership skills, strengthen their confidence and gain practical tools for personal and professional growth.
Beyond women-focused programmes, TASN has also invested in young people through university mentorship sessions, reaching more than 500 students across institutions including Victoria University, Kyambogo University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi, Cavendish University and other universities.
These engagements provide students with exposure to career conversations, mentorship and guidance from professionals who help them prepare for future opportunities.
Recognizing the importance of accessible learning, TASN has also built a strong digital engagement ecosystem.
Through its monthly digital roundtable series, more than 100 women gather every month for online learning sessions focused on practical topics around leadership, entrepreneurship, career advancement and personal development.
The organization also uses its Momentum Monday X Spaces series, which runs every Monday, as a platform for women to develop their voices. Through these sessions, more than 50 women have had opportunities to practice public speaking, share their expertise and lead conversations, with weekly sessions attracting up to 100 listeners.
Additionally, through free online masterclasses, TASN has extended its reach to more than 2,000 women indirectly, ensuring that learning opportunities remain available beyond formal programme participants.
This combination of structured programmes, digital learning and community engagement represents TASN’s approach to leadership development: creating consistent opportunities for women to grow.
At Brunch and Learn 2026, those values came alive through powerful conversations from women leaders and industry experts.
The keynote address was delivered by Irene T. Kauma, certified executive coach, author of Destined and Senior Private Secretary to Uganda’s First Lady and Minister of Education Janet Museveni.
Drawing from 25 years of public service experience, Kauma introduced her 3As framework, encouraging women to intentionally design lives that align with their purpose instead of simply reacting to circumstances.
The conversation continued during a panel discussion moderated by Marsella Ariso, with returning host Haguma Gloria bringing her signature warmth and engaging energy to the programme.
Panelists shared lessons from their own leadership journeys. Asmahaney Saad, Partner at KTA Advocates, spoke about self-awareness as a key leadership asset. Kemi Angie Omeke, founder of Pink Coconut Decor, encouraged women to establish systems that protect their wellbeing and financial stability. Racheal T. Naijuka, founder of Red Shield Limited, challenged attendees to overcome procrastination and embrace action. Adellah Agaba (Coach Adelle), Head of Talent Development at Airtel Uganda, emphasized that mentorship and sisterhood are essential for sustainable success.
The event also highlighted the importance of holistic resilience. Through energizing sessions led by Wato Movement and Sukuma Fitness, women stepped away from intense conversations and embraced movement, celebration and connection.
Another significant highlight was the graduation ceremony for participants of the Sisterhood Academy, celebrating women who had completed their leadership development journey and demonstrating the tangible outcomes of TASN’s work.
The success of Brunch and Learn was strengthened by partners who share the vision of investing in women’s advancement, including Pepsi Uganda, SafeBoda Uganda, Wato Movement, PluggedIn Communications and Newmans Foods.
As the event concluded, TASN unveiled its next major milestone: The African Sisters Network Summit, scheduled for 1st to 3rd July 2027.
The three-day summit will expand the organization’s vision by bringing together women from across Africa for deeper leadership development, collaboration and networking.
For many attendees, the conversations continued beyond the event itself. Connections were exchanged, ideas were shared and new relationships were formed.
That is the essence of what TASN continues to build: not just events, but a movement.
A movement where women are equipped with knowledge, strengthened through community and empowered to lead with resilience.
