Uganda will join the rest of the United Nations fraternity in marking and commemorating the International Youth Day Celebrations of International Youth Day on 12th Monday August, 2019.
This year’s theme of the International Youth Day Celebrations will be: “Transforming Education for Responsible Citizenship & Employment Creation.”
The purpose of celebrating International Youth Day is in recognition of the numerical strength of the young people and their importance in contributing to achieving the aspirations of state parties.
While addressing the press at the Uganda Media Centre, early this morning, the minister of State for youth and Children Affairs Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi said that the theme emphasizes the importance of relevant, quality education and skills in molding a wholesome being.
“It emphasizes the importance of relevant and quality education and skills in moulding a wholesome being. Our ministry is focusing on equipping Young people with relevant skills in different sectors such as sports among other activities,” she said in part.
The celebrations, like the norm has always been, will take place at various local Government levels across the country but the main national celebrations will take place in Jinja District at St Gonzanga Primary School Kagoma on 12th August, 2019, 24kms on Jinja-Kamuli Road.
Nakiwala called upon the public to attend the main celebrations which will be starting at 8:00am on August 12, 2019.
