President Yoweri Museveni has called on the people of Kashagama Sub-County in particular as well as those in Lyantonde District in general to endeavor live healthy lifestyles in order to avoid premature death.
“We are losing our people because of over-sitting and fatness especially women. You find someone is fat and people are happy that she is beautiful! Fat is poison and you should avoid it,” he advised.
The President made the remarks yesterday at the burial of the late Mariza Kateteyi Kajwaara at Katebe village of Kashagama Sub-County in Lyantonde District.
79-year old Kateteyi Kajwaara passed away last Friday June 15th at Mulago-Kiruddu Hospital in Kampala after succumbing to bone cancer.
President Museveni said that he came to bury Ms. Kajwaara to express his appreciation to the Kajwaara family for the support they gave during the struggle to liberate Uganda.
He commended the late Kajwaara and his wife, Mariza, for the hard work exhibited in the establishment of a decent home and for educating their children.
He, therefore, urged the residents of Kashagama Sub-County to emulate the late Kajwaara and his wife Mariza.
He advised the people of the area in particular and Uganda as a whole to take advantage of the Government development programmes and take up numerous production activities in order to fight against household poverty.
Regarding the challenge faced by farmers as far as tick resistance to animal acaricides is concerned, the President asked Veterinary Officers to sensitize farmers on the danger of adulteration of animal drugs as well as poor administration of the animal drugs by farmers.
He assured farmers in the country that the government is working with Cuban scientists so that soon the tick resistance menace will be addressed once and for all.
Lyantonde Woman Representative, Hon. Pauline Kemirembe Kyaka, saluted President Museveni for his pro-people Government and his ability to reach out to people in time of grief.
She noted that the life of the late Mariza Kateteyi Kajwaara, who is survived by 3 children and a number of grandchildren, should be inspiration to families particularly those that are bedeviled by domestic violence.
The family of the late Ms. Mariza Kateteyi Kajwaara thanked President Museveni and the NRM Government for the support their beloved mother and grandmother when was received treatment in hospital.
