Police and Kyambogo University authorities are investigating the death of a university student whose body was discovered in her hostel room in Banda, Kampala, on Monday, September 28, 2026.
The deceased has been identified as Precious Musimenta, a student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance at Kyambogo University and attached to North Hall.
According to a death announcement issued by the university’s Office of the Dean of Students on September 28, Musimenta was found dead in her room at Sports Pro-Hostel in Banda.
The university said her body was subsequently taken to City Mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to establish the cause of death.
“The late was found dead in her room at Sports Pro-Hostel in Banda today, Monday 28th September 2026,” the university said in the communication addressed to Vice-Chancellor Prof Eli Katunguka.
The university has not disclosed how Musimenta died, and there was no indication in the official communication that she had been suffering from any known illness.
Local reports indicate that police have opened investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death as authorities await the postmortem findings.
The circumstances leading to Musimenta’s death remain unclear, and authorities have not publicly linked the case to a crime or named any suspect.
Sports Pro-Hostel is located along Banda Road and is among the hostels serving students around the Kyambogo University area. A university-hostel listing identifies it as a girls’ hostel.
