The Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) community is mourning the death of Ainebambazi Annitah, a first-year Bachelor of Business Administration student who died in a road accident on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
The university announced the death on Monday, describing the passing of the student as untimely and extending condolences to her family, friends and fellow students.
Ainebambazi was a student in the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences, where she was pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration.
In a condolence message, MUST said the university community was deeply saddened by her death and mourned the loss of a young student whose university journey had only just begun.
“Mbarara University of Science and Technology community mourns the untimely passing of Ms. Ainebambazi Annitah,” the university said in its statement.
The university’s memorial notice also identified her as a BBA I student and said she died in a road accident on September 27.
The circumstances surrounding the crash, including the location and vehicles involved, were not immediately disclosed by the university. Searches for additional public reports about the accident had also not produced independently verified details by the time of publication.
The institution said burial arrangements would be communicated later.
The death comes as another loss for the university community, with students and staff expected to join the bereaved family in mourning.
The Dean of Students, Mr Ambrose K Mugisha, announced the death on behalf of the university.
MUST conveyed its condolences to Ainebambazi’s relatives, friends and fellow students, and prayed for comfort for those affected by her death.
The university’s memorial message quoted Psalm 34:18, offering a message of comfort to the bereaved.
