The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has published this year’s final examination timetable, while cautioning candidates and parents to be wary of people falsely claiming to have advance access to exam papers.
UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo announced the details on Wednesday at the Media Centre in Kampala, where he briefed the press on the board’s preparations. He said this year’s exams will run under the theme “Advancing Excellence in Assessment and Certification through Secure, Credible, Inclusive and Innovative Processes,” with 1,620,785 candidates expected to sit the final papers.
Odongo urged schools and candidates to carefully review personal details; names, dates of birth, and photographs, to prevent errors that could later affect certification. Candidates have a 60-day window, from August 7 to October 7, 2026, to verify their information, and he encouraged them to do so promptly.
He also warned against fraudsters peddling claims of possessing exam papers ahead of their official release, stressing that such claims are designed to con the public. Odongo appealed to candidates and parents not to fall for people demanding money in exchange for supposedly leaked papers.
Additionally, UNEB reminded schools to ensure candidates submit their project work on time, noting it accounts for 20% of a learner’s final assessment. The board reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security, credibility, and fairness throughout the examination process so that all candidates are assessed under equal conditions.
