The Vicar General of Kasana Luwero Diocese has cautioned candidates against solely relying on prayers as a magic formula for success in their upcoming examinations.
This year’s examinations are scheduled to commence on Monday, October 16th, with candidates sitting for the Uganda Certificate of Examination (UCE).
The official briefing is set for Friday, October 13th. The Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) will take place from November 8th to 9th, 2023.
Additionally, the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Examinations (UACE) is scheduled from November 10th to December 1st, 2023.
As the examination dates approach, schools across the country have been conducting prayer sessions to invoke blessings for their candidates and dedicate them to God.
However, Monsignor Francis Xavier Mpanga, the Vicar General of Kasana Luwero, emphasized that prayers are not a magic solution for good performance.
Mpanga stressed that students should be aware that prayers are only meaningful when coupled with diligent study and preparation.
He made these remarks during a mass organized to bless candidates at Kakoola High School in Luwero district ahead of the examinations.
Mike Wagaba, the Headteacher of Kakoola High School, welcomed Mpanga’s guidance and affirmed the school’s commitment to preparing students effectively for the exams.
Valentine Michael Ganza, an S.4 candidate, expressed confidence in their preparation for the exams despite disruptions caused by COVID-19.
He noted that, in addition to seeking divine blessings, they are also grateful for the opportunity to complete their ordinary-level education, acknowledging the challenges that led many of their peers to drop out of school.
According to the Uganda National Examinations Board, a total of 1,224,371 candidates have registered to take exams at 20,921 centers. These include 749,371 candidates for PLE, 364,421 candidates for UCE, and 110,579 candidates registered for UACE.
