Museveni to Fire RDCs, CAOs Over Poor water Sources In Villages

1 Mins read

NRM Presidential Candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has vowed to dismiss Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) and Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs) over failure to ensure that all boreholes and water sources in villages are functional.

The President issued this directive while meeting Acholi NRM leaders and flag-bearers in Gulu drawn from the districts of Gulu, Omoro, Nwoya and Amuru.

He called on the locals to report any RDC or CAO to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit boss Lt Col Edith Nakalema in case there is a borehole or water spring which doesn’t work.

“The work of the Resident District Commissioner and the CAO is to ensure that the people have got access to proper services including clean safe water,” said Museveni.

He noted that the government has sunk a number of boreholes in the villages of Acholi sub-region, but he is being told some of his people are not having water because the boreholes have broken down.

“It means the RDCs are sleeping on the job, and I want you people to help me and report such officials to my office,” Museveni sternly said and got a thunderous applause from the crowd

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister, Dr Ruhakana Rugunda and other party leaders have rallied Acholi leaders to lead the way in guaranteeing a win for candidate Yoweri Museveni at the polls in January.

“16 years ago, a number of us went to Palabek when it was not easy and had a meeting with representatives of LRA. It was a difficult experience but with politicians, religious and cultural leaders, we made a contribution to the restoration of peace to Northern Uganda and Acholi subregion in particular,” Rugunda said.

Rugunda downplayed competition from other presidential aspirants saying Museveni was much stronger than any of them.

“Some candidates are trying, marginally. I have not seen any candidate that could meaningfully challenge President Museveni. My very good friend Norbert Mao (Democratic Party resident) is trying but he has been abandoned,” he noted.
