Uganda Peoples Defence Forces have revealed that among the escapees from Moroto prison are hardcore criminals, majorly warriors who were arrested and appeared before the Division Court martial.
UPDF spokesperson, Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso says the UPDF are already in pursuit of 219 prisoners who broke out of Moroto Central Prison.
The pursuit started at around 14:30hours and it is still ongoing.
This website understands that 2 UPDF soldiers and one inmate have been shot dead.

The escape has brought business in Soroti Municipality to a standstill as UPDF together with police and Airforce intensified the operation of capturing the escapees who are currently ascending to Mountain Moroto.

The escapees also disappeared with unspecified number of guns hat they got from the prison armoury.
