Uganda Police Force and UPDF are in a shooting battle with 50 prisoners who escaped with guns today afternoon from Moroto prison.
It is said that the inmates broke into the prison armoury and stole guns before running towards Mt Moroto.
It is said that so far, a UPDF solider has been killed in this shootout.
It is worth noting that, Moroto government prison was to new inmates after 30 inmates tested positive to COVID-19 on Thursday last week.
The prison COVID-19 cases come at a time when at least 7 staff of Moroto district local government including the district chairperson Andrew Napaja Keem are hospitalized after testing positive to COVID-19.
Analysts have since revealed that the escapees could be a danger to society in terms of robbery and spreading the deadly COVID-19 further into the society.
