Mbale Flash Floods Victims Receive Relief Aid

Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda has in collaboration with Umoja Helping Hand, a local NGO led by Wakiso Kadhi Sheikh Erias Kigozi extended Relief Aid to the Mbale flood victims.
Over 2000 flood victims received relief packs comprising mattress, blankets, 10kgs of Rice, 15kgs of Maize flour, Sugar, beans, and a bar of soap on Saturday and Sunday Aug 14th 2022 at Mbale City Stadium and Noor Islamic theological Institute along Mbale- Tororo High Way.

Presiding over the relief distribution at both venues the Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Dr. Mary Gorretti Kitutu who represented the Gov’t thanked His Eminence the Mufti and UMOJA Helping Hand for standing with the Gov’t in assisting the victims. Dr. Kitutu asked the beneficiaries to always listen to the advice given to them by the Gov’t on the interventions aimed at saving their lives.

On his part, Mufti expressed sympathy with the flood victims and cautioned them that such calamities are divine warnings that the creator isn’t happy because of the wide spread inequities such as idol worship, adultery and corruption of all forms in communities.

Sheikh Mubaje used the same occasion to thank Sheikh Erias Kigozi and his team at UMOJA for responding positively to his request to support the flood victims and urged other people of good will to emulate them and offer support to the victims of natural calamities.

He reminded all people that one of the ways to ward off Almighty God’ s anger towards his creatures is to share however litter one has in form Charity. He ended by distributing mango tree seedlings to the beneficiaries for planting as part of the campaign for environmental conservation.

Sheikh Kigozi on behalf of UMOJA thanked the Gov’t, UMSC and the Mufti for the close cooperation noting his Organization provides welfare support programs to all people regardless of their Religious, tribal affiliations or otherwise.

In attendance were Mbale Resident City Commissioner Mr. Ahamada Washaki, various Mbale City Officials, Police Chiefs, the Region Assistant to the Mufti Dr. Ahmad Haamid Wandega, Sheikh Isah Masaba Pole and the Kadhi Bugisu Muslim District among many others.
