The famous Uganda’s Music Promoter, Abbey Musinguzi popularly known as Abitex, on Monday presented his Shs5million pledge to Mbidde Cup 2019 Masaka City winners.
Abitex handed over his pledge to Muteesa 1 Royal University Football Club and NAJO Netball team at Tropic Inn Hotel, Masaka.
This took place in presence of Hon Fred Mukasa Mbidde, the chief sponsor of the tournament.
Abitex called upon fellow promoters and City tycoons with Masaka origin to team up and sponsor sports tournaments in the region.
Fred Mukasa Mbidde applauded Abitex for proffering his pledge to the tournament winners yet he has no political interests in Masaka City.
He said Masaka City must have a strong football team with in a period of four to five years to uplift local sports.
“We must promote talent in our country cities to match with the renown European Cities. Leads United, Manchester City and United, Chelsea, Liverpool etc are all cities in Europe with the best Football clubs; we must also build the same teams to promote National sports,” Mbidde said.
Abitex Promotions has always been the chief organiser of the Annual Buganda Kingdom end of year festival commonly Known as “Enkuuka”.
Mbidde cup 2019 Masaka city has so far been recorded as the biggest Personality League in Uganda where the East African Assembly legislator donated 53 sports jerseys to all the teams that participated in this historical tournament.
