Museveni in Japan for 3-day TICAD Conference

President Yoweri Museveni has today arrived in the Japanese seaside city of Yokohama where he joins other world leaders to attend the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) that kicks of tomorrow Wednesday 28th August 2019 at the Pacifico Yokohama Convention Centre.

The President was received at Haneda/Narita International Airport by the Special Assistant to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Hisanobu Hasama, Uganda’s Minister of State for Works Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, Patrick Mugoya the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Uganda’s Ambassador to Japan, Betty Aketch Okullo.

This year’s conference is being held under the theme “Africa and Yokohama, Sharing Passion for the future”.

The Conference is hosted by the Japanese Government and is co-sponsored by the United Nations, the United Nations Development programme (UNDP), the Africa Union Commission and the World Bank.

The President will tomorrow address the plenary on the topic, “Accelerating Economic Transformation and Improving Business Environment through Innovation and Private Sector Engagement”.
