Vipers SC has advanced to the final of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after edging SC Villa 1:0 in the 2nd leg semi-finals at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende on Tuesday June 5th.
The 1-0 aggregate victory confirmed Vipers SC as KCCA FC’s opponents who eliminated FUFA Big League side Synergy FC in the first semi-final. KCCA won 10-0 aggregate.
KCCA FC are the Uganda Cup holders.
Prior to kick off, a minute of silence was observed for departed long serving football administrator and CAF Commissioner Hajji Abbassi Sendyowa who was laid to rest in Mbarara on Tuesday.
Brian Nkuubi came from bench to save the Venoms with a well taken direct free-kick in the 69th minute after Milton Karisa was fouled on the edge of the box.
Villa’s Allan Kyambadde had the chance to level the game in the 79th minute however, his effort from the free-kick couldn’t bother Vipers’ shot stopper Ismail Watenga as it sailed over the bar.
This was the third victory of Vipers over SC Villa this season in the four meetings in all Competitions.
Vipers defeated SC Villa in both rounds of the Azam Uganda Premier League.
The final will be played at Emokori Grounds in Bukedea on Saturday June 9th 2018.
