President Yoweri Museveni has received an invitation from his Chinese counterpart, Mr. Xi Jinping, to attend the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit that is slated to take place later this year in the Chinese Capital of Beijing.
The Chinese Ambassador to Uganda, Mr. Zheng Zhua Qiang, delivered the invitation to President Museveni today at State House, Entebbe.
FOCAC is an official forum between China and African states. There have been five Summits held to date with the most recent having taken place in Beijing, China in July 2012.
Previous Summits were held in Beijing in October 2000; December 2003 in Addis Ababa Ethiopia; November 2006 in Beijing and November 2009 in Sharm el Sheikh, Sinai Peninsular in Egypt.
Ambassador Zheng Zhua also briefed President Museveni on the visit to Uganda of Mr. Wang Yang, who is the Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), a 7-Member Special Organ of the Chinese Communist Party’s Politiburo.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sam Kuteesa, attended the meeting.
