Journalists Stopped from Accessing Police Court that is Deciding Kirumira’s Fate

1 Mins read

Journalists have for the second time been stopped from accessing the Police court room in Naguru where the fate of former Buyende district DPC ASP Mohammad Kirumira will be decided.

Sources have revealed that barring journalists was an instruction from the IGP Martins Okoth Ochola.

The source further said that the disciplinary committee is an internal organ that disciplines police officers so there is no need of journalists being around.

It should be remembered that on Tuesday this week, journalists were stopped from accessing the police court room.

This didn’t go down well with Kirumira who boycotted the session and said that he won’t return to the police court.

Kirumira’s actions prompted police to summon his Surety Afande Sam Omara, who was instructed to bring Kirumira.

The two appeared today morning and they accepted to enter the court room.

This website understands that Kirumira is charged with neglect of duty contrary to Section 44(1) Code 19, corruption practices contrary to Section 44(1) Code 23(a) and irregular conduct contrary to Section 44(1) Code 12 of the Police Act, the crimes he allegedly committed while serving as Nansana DPC.
