President Museveni has said that Crime Preventers have never been a project of now fired Inspector General of Police General Kale Kayihura.
Museveni said this while meeting Crime Preventers at the MTN Arena in Lugogo, Kampala.
“Anybody who had an idea that this was a Kayihura project, please, get it out of your head. But Kayihura was an active cadre who executed that aspect.” said the President.
Museveni then thanked Gen Kayihura for making the project a success.
“I want to thank Gen Kale Kayihura for actively participating in this project. Even when he was a UPDF political commissar, he did a good job in training the reserve army,” said Museveni amid cheers from Crime Preventers.
Museveni then said that the Crime Preventers now belong to the UPDF reserve army.
On explaining the role of the reserve army, the president said that this is not new since they previously trained (Mukyaka Mukyaka) able men and they would be called in in case of any shortage of military personal.
