An illegal gaming manufacturing operation has been dismantled in Opiyal, Soroti Town, following a coordinated enforcement operation by the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) in collaboration with the Uganda Police Force.
The operation, conducted under the ongoing #OperationMashineHaramu, led to the arrest of a Chinese national identified as Lin Haiyun, who was found operating a gaming manufacturing facility without a valid licence.
Authorities recovered a significant cache of illegal gaming equipment from the premises, including three complete fish tables, 90 complete coin slot machines, 428 motherboards, 49 whoppers for coin slot machines, two television screens, and six sacks of assorted spare parts used in the assembly of gaming machines.
Officials described the haul as a major disruption to illegal gaming activities in the region, noting that such operations pose serious risks to the public and undermine regulated gaming efforts.
The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board commended members of the public for their vigilance and timely reporting, which played a critical role in the success of the operation. The Board reiterated its commitment to eliminating illegal gaming activities across the country and safeguarding communities from the social and economic harms associated with unregulated gaming.
The NLGRB urged the public to continue reporting suspicious gaming-related activities through its toll-free line 0800 285 800, via direct message, or by email at info@lgrb.go.ug.
Authorities emphasized that enforcement efforts will remain intensified nationwide as part of broader measures to promote responsible gaming and uphold the law.
