MTN Mobile Money (U) Limited has today rewarded the first group of winners in its ongoing “Power to Be Borderless” campaign, an initiative designed to celebrate customers who send or receive money internationally through MTN MoMo’s global remittance partners. In this first handover, four winners received fully paid air tickets, while eleven winners received shopping vouchers worth UGX 200,000.

These first winners qualified by either sending money abroad or receiving funds from loved ones working or living outside Uganda. The campaign highlights MTN MoMo’s commitment to making international money transfers simpler, faster, and more rewarding for everyday users.

The four air ticket winners will enjoy fully paid trips to a destination of their choice in East Africa or Dubai, including Zanzibar, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam, or Dubai. Their packages cover flights, accommodation, meals, shopping, and guided experiences. Shopping voucher winners will enjoy a UGX 200,000 shopping treat on Market by MoMo, giving them access to more than sixty thousand products delivered across the country.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Shamim Fatumah Kavuma, MTN MoMo’s Manager for Remittance and Interoperability, celebrated the winners and thanked customers for choosing MoMo for their international transfers. She said, “We are excited to reward the first winners of the Power to Be Borderless campaign. Your trust motivates us to continue improving your experience. MoMo users can send and receive money from countries around the world using our trusted remittance partners, and every transaction brings them closer to winning.”

Adding to her remarks, Brian Mutungi Tukahirwa, Market by MoMo’s Ecommerce Country Lead, highlighted the convenience of redeeming the vouchers. He said, “The shopping vouchers can be used directly on the Market by MoMo platform when checking out, and we deliver products to customers anywhere in the country. It is a seamless experience for all our winners.”

Several winners also shared their excitement.

Annet Namatovu, who took home a shopping voucher, said, “I have been an MTN customer since my P7. Receiving 200,000 shillings from MTN MoMo after sending and receiving money with my sister in Dubai feels so special. I am truly grateful.”

Muturi Kimani, one of the air ticket winners, said, “I have used MTN MoMo for many years to support my family and run my business. Winning this trip is exciting, and I look forward to visiting Dubai to explore new opportunities. I appreciate MTN MoMo for this reward.”

The Power to Be Borderless campaign is still ongoing. Customers abroad can continue to participate by sending money to Uganda through MTN MoMo’s international remittance partners, while receivers in Uganda qualify simply by accepting their funds through their MoMo wallets. Ugandans can also participate by sending money abroad using 1651*2#, or by receiving money from abroad directly onto their MoMo wallets. Every transaction counts as an entry into the draw, and more winners will continue to be rewarded throughout the promotional period.

This initiative is part of MTN’s broader Power to Be More platform which is focused on expanding financial inclusion and digital empowerment for all Ugandans.
