Tanzania is buzzing with excitement as Ugandan music icon Bebe Cool arrives in Dar es Salaam for the latest stop on his Break The Chains album media tour! The award-winning singer touched down at Julius Nyerere International Airport last night, greeted with cheers from fans and a warm welcome from local and international press.
The energetic campaign, which runs from July 7th to 12th, follows a vibrant and successful tour in Nairobi where Bebe Cool reminded the region that he’s still one of East Africa’s biggest musical powerhouses. While in Kenya, he paid tribute to the country that helped nurture his talent back in the late 1990s.
Now, it’s Tanzania’s turn — and Bebe Cool is loving every moment!
“Tanzania holds a special place in my heart. It’s always been a center of creativity and culture in East Africa,” he said with a smile during a lively press conference at the Serena Hotel in Dar es Salaam.
The press event, co-hosted by Tanzanian media favorite Lil Ommy and PR dynamo Anyiko Owoko of Anyiko PR, was filled with positive vibes and passionate discussions about the future of African music.
Bebe Cool didn’t hold back his excitement about the direction East African music is taking.
“Africa is on the rise, and East Africa must claim its spot. If we push 30 artists globally, even 10 breaking through will create a ripple effect that lifts us all,” he shared enthusiastically.
Break The Chains, his new 16-track album, is a musical celebration of freedom — freedom to dream, create, and grow. The project fuses Afrobeats, Afropop, Afro-house, and Afrotech with Bebe Cool’s signature vocals and storytelling charm. It’s a journey through sound and emotion, featuring high-profile collaborations with Yemi Alade, Joshua Baraka, and DJ Edu.
The album has already taken off with tracks like Circumference and Motivation, while fan favorites African Love (with Yemi Alade) and Cheque (featuring Joshua Baraka) are earning rave reviews for their catchy beats and fresh vibes.
“This album is about breaking limits — doing what people think you can’t, exploring new ideas, and creating fearlessly,” Bebe Cool said.
Though he’s no stranger to Tanzanian media — having once been a regular on Channel 5/East African TV — this is Bebe Cool’s first full-blown promotional tour in Tanzania, and he’s making it count. From radio to TV, digital media to fan meet-ups, the singer is soaking in the love and giving it right back.
And the journey doesn’t end here! Bebe Cool teased upcoming tour stops in Rwanda, Nigeria, South Africa, and even Europe, as he takes Break The Chains beyond borders.
The album is available now on all major digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music — and if the buzz in Tanzania is anything to go by, Break The Chains is only just getting started.
