VIDEO!! National Water Engineer Dies In Car Accident A Day After His Giveaway Ceremony

Three lives including a man who was traditionally introduced yesterday by his loved one perished in an accident at Kahunga trading centre along Ntungamo Mbarara road on Sunday.

The fatal accident that occurred in the afternoon involved two motor vehicles UBN375Q Subaru Forester white in colour and UBP314A Taxi Hiace white in colour.

Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson identified the deceased as Moses Manirakiza, 29 an engineer and resident of Burungu village, muramba sub county in Kisoro district who was driving the Subaru.

The others included Kenneth Twesigye, 31 engineer and resident of Rwikiniro village Ruhama sub county, Ntungamo district and Herbert Mujurizi, the driver of the Taxi and  resident of Rukungiri.

One of the deceased Twesigye was on Saturday introduced to the family of his wife only identified as Prize in a tradition ceremony known as Okuhingira that was held in Kyatoko, Rukungiri district.

Kasasira says 13 victims in the taxi were left with serious injuries and rushed to Itojo hospital where they are admitted.

Kasasira explained that the driver of the Subaru was coming from Mbarara heading to Ntungamo while it was raining.

He further explained that when the driver of the Subaru approached Kahunga trading center running water had covered the road on his lane so he decided to drive on the right, causing the head on collision with the taxi.

James Rukundo, a taxi broker at Kahunga stage said that because of the heavy rains the drainage system got filled up floods submerged the road one side noting that the two drivers from both vehicles driving on a high speed wanted to use the only side of the road that was not submerged causing the terrible accident.

Kasasira said the bodies of the deceased were conveyed to itojo mortuary pending postmortem while both vehicles were towed away to Ntungamo police station pending inspection.
