The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr. Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu has warned youth leaders against the devilish groups recruiting and initiating them into homosexuality and transgender activities.
He sounded the warning while addressing participants at the Provincial Annual Youths and Students Convention-PAYSCO that drew youths from the different Anglican dioceses held at Mukono High School in Mukono Municipality under the theme, ‘Hope Alive’.
According to Archbishop Mugalu, various groups are heavily funded to spoil the new generation and are currently targeting holidaymakers and youths in churches mainly through their leaders.
The youth conference, which started on Friday and is expected to end Tuesday, December 12, has attracted over 350 youths mostly leaders from the 37 dioceses under the province of the Church of Uganda.
Rev. Richard Rukundo, the Provincial Coordinator for Youths and Children, says it happens annually with an intention of training the youths in leadership skills, counseling, and resilience.
Some of the youths approached by URN were grateful for the opportunity, saying it has lifted their leadership skills and encouraged them to persevere amidst life-pressing challenges.
Anna Komuhendo, Bunyoro-Kitara diocese youth chairperson testified that she had planned to resign from the position after the conference but has been encouraged to stay on until her tenure ends.
