Taxi Operators Ask City Authority To Desist From Favouring Tondeka Bus Service

1 Mins read

Taxi operators in Kampala say they are ready to compete with Tondeka bus service and warn authority to desist from limiting the number of taxes in order to create working space for Tondeka buses.

This comes after the Tondeka Bus Transport Company Ltd received five buses on Monday from Kiira Motors for Kampala City mass transit as part of the government programme to decongest the urban area.

Muhammad Ssempijja, a taxi driver and leader at Namayiba Tax Park while talking to our reporter in kampala said that this is not the first when such means of transport are brought in Kampala.

He explained that taxi business remained firm, so no big deal with Tondeka but only togetherness will help both parties to operate in the same market.

Ssempijja adds that the situation in the country is not good economically and everyone is looking for daily bread and therefore owners of Tondeka bus should leave tax operators to compete rather than proposing to limit numbers of tax in Kampala.

Meanwhile tax drivers in New Park Kampala say they are also ready to work with new competitors in the market so long as they do not disturb their peace in the city.
