A man in Busia district is at large for allegedly hacking his wife to death.  The suspect is David Oguttu, a resident of Bulecha village in Masinya sub-county.

He is wanted for hacking his wife Christine Auma 29-years to death after developing a misunderstanding on Monday night.

Domiano Wabwire, the Bulecha Village Defence Secretary, says that after hacking his wife with a panga to death, Ogutu locked the house and vanished from home.

He says that they became suspicious when they found a blood-stained machete and started hunting for Oguttu’s wife in vain.

According to Wabwire, they decided to break into Oguttu’s house and found Auma’s lifeless body lying on the floor.

The suspect’s father, Keffa Wandera, says that he cannot tell want prompted his son to kill his wife because he didn’t receive any complaints from the couple.

“It’s unfortunate that my son opted to kill the wife even without sharing with me issues affecting them in their house,” said Wandera. Wandera blamed the couple for alcoholism.

Timothy Pido, the officer in charge of the Criminal Investigations Department – OC CID at Busia central police station who visited the scene, says that the deceased sustained cut on the head and neck.

He explained that they have entered a case of murder as they hunt for the suspect.

The deceased’s body is lying at Masafu general hospital pending a post-mortem.
