A group of city lawyers and law firms have reportedly offered to help lady who claims former MP Peter Ssematimba had a child with her.
According to reports, some members of the legal fraternity want to offer probono services to Joan Namatovu, who on Monday, came out and alleged that the former Busiro South Member of Parliament fathered her child when she was working for him as a housemaid.
Joan claims Ssematimba has dragged her to court with intentions of taking full custody of their daughter, something she disagrees with.
Joan who spoke to a local TV, said, Ssematimba’s advances started “process by process” according to her, adding that he used to ask her to scrub his back.
Ssematimba doubles as a self styled pastor and motivational speaker.
Ssematimba’s mother brought me to work at his house as a maid in 2005. I was taken there after the previous maid left claiming he was sleeping with her. I reached there not knowing that those were his habits because I was so naïve as I was just 17 and didn’t know anything about men. I was there for two years but when his wife got pregnant, she travelled abroad,” she narrated.
On Monday, former minister, Miria Matembe called on lawyers to offer help to Joan.
