The Director of Communications at Parliament, Chris Obore, has revealed that the Speaker Jacob Oulanyah is well.
He was responding to reports that Speaker Oulanyah is ill.
However, in a post on Facebook, Obore says the Speaker is spending time with his family while working remotely.
“The Speaker is well and having time with his children at home. He has been in campaigns for more than a year. A family is as important as national duty,” Obore says.
He adds, “Secondly , the Deputy Speaker chairs the House as a shared responsibility not only when the Speaker is away.”
According to Obore, Speaker Oulanyah’s new approach is that the deputy speaker works even when the Speaker is in the country ‘not just as a filler.’
“Speaker Oulanyah promised the country that its not about him as the individual but parliament as an institution. He is in touch with his deputy and they run the show together. Pomp is not his style,” he says.
