Lukwago, City Leaders Recommend Shs250k Be Given To Vulnerable

Kampala City Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago on Monday morning convened a High Level City leadership engagement to discuss the way forward in the resurgences of Covid-19.

In attendance was the Executive, Division Urban Mayors for Nakawa, Makindye, Lubaga & Kampala Central and the Executive Director virtually.

The resolutions taken on salient issues at stake included among others;
a) The KCCA Executive Director preparing a Covid-19 response budget for all the operations.

b) Operationalizing the 800 vaccination sites in the City for the Covid-19 Campaign Vaccination in liaison with the Ministry of Health.

c) The RCC engaging and finalizing the establishment of structures at the Division levels to devolve the tasks and ensure elected leaders are involved through hybrid (Physical & Virtual) Council Sittings.

d) The Rapid Response Team remaining centralized at KCCA with a Call Centre operating 24hrs. The fleet has been boosted to18 Ambulances and the Toll Free line for Emergencies is 0800990000 and WhatsApp 0792310927.

e) Regarding welfare, they agreed that this should be prioritized and recommend that LCs should do a comprehensive compiling of the vulnerable people in their respective areas and forward the same to the Division Urban Councils. They have recommended a minimum of UGX252000/- for 42days per person at a minimum of UGX6000/- per day.

f) And lastly, recommended that the RCC, in liaison with the Kikuubo Business Community work out modalities of ensuring that those who left their cash at their workstations are organized to pick the same at different intervals without compromise the health of others.

The City leadership argues everyone to remain vigilant to enable us survive through.
