Opposition National Unity Platform’s (NUP) party President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has been ordered by court to handover over his bulletproof car to Uganda Revenue Authority for re-verification.

In a High Court ruling issued by Justice Emmanuel Baguma, Bobi Wine has not adduced evidence to show that the re-calling of the said motor vehicle would cause him an irreparable injury which cannot be compensated by an award of damages.

“It is therefore my considered view that the applicant has not adduced evidence to show that the re-calling of the said motor vehicle for re-verification/reexamination will cause him irreparable injury which cannot be compensated by an award of damages. In the final result, this application is not a proper one to grant a temporary injunction. Issue No.1 fails. The application therefore fails and it is hereby dismissed,” Justice Baguma ruled.

It added, “It should be noted that an injunction will not normally be granted unless the applicant has shown that he will suffer irreparable injury which would not adequately be compensated by an award of damages.

In March, Bobi Wine through his lawyers from Wameli and Company Advocates petitioned the High court seeking a temporary injunction restraining URA and its agents from taking his vehicle Land Cruiser V8  registration number UBJ 667F for a re-verification exercise.
