Archbishop Lwanga Died Of Heart Disease — Post-mortem Report

Post-mortem Report has revealed that the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga succumbed to Ischemic heart disease following coronary heart thrombosis.

The Post-mortem was carried out at Mulago National Referral Hospital on Saturday April 03, 2020.

“His Grace Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga was pronounced dead at his official residence in Rubaga at 9:08am on Saturday 03rd April 2021 by Dr Ssekitoleko Andrew who was the physician to his grace and the first doctor on the scene,” Dr Ssekitoleko Andrew at a Requiem mass held today afternoon at Rubaga Cathedral.

He further said that; “A post-mortem was conducted on the same day at Mulago hospital mortuary by a team of four senior pathologists in the presence of two representatives of the family and two physicians that were delegated by the church.

“After careful examination of the body part of His Grace, a conclusion of the cause of death was made.

“The cause of death was Ischemic heart disease following coronary heart thrombosis.

“This means a heart attack that is due to a blood clot that was found inside the artery that supplies blood to the heart.

“When this happens, it takes three to five minutes for someone to pass on. When I found His Grace, there was no sign that he had struggled.”

Archbishop Lwanga died at the age of 68.

Burial Arrangements

Today Monday, April 5: Mass at Rubaga Cathedral at 2pm (concluded)

Tuesday:  Mass at   Kyabakadde (Lugazi Diocese) starting at midday

Wednesday: Funeral mass at Namugongo Catholic Shrine starting at 10am.

Thursday: Burial at Rubaga Cathedral
