Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni will on Thursday drive from his rural home to the capital, Kampala, making various stops in major towns.
President Museveni – who won a re-election last week – will make a total of seven stops in his route.
Government Spokesperson Ofwono Opondo detailed the journey in a tweet:
The president’s victory lap comes amid calls for the government to lift a house arrest on opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, who has rejected the election results.
The US called for a probe into claims of election irregularities by the opposition who are yet to file a petition.
The opposition’s offices were raided by the military and party officials say the material they were gathering for the petition was confiscated.
