A number of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party youths have attacked the outgoing National Youth Council leader after she criticised them for mobilising party support online.
Lilian Aber who is also contesting for the Kitgum Woman Member of Parliament slot, recently bashed her fellow NRM cadres for doing armchair mobilising for the party and President Yoweri Museveni on WhatsApp instead of going on the ground to galvanise support for the president.
“You NRM Mobilisers must leave What’sup (sic) and take full charge of your areas otherwise, you will be shocked! Be there mbu you are waiting for money for Mobilization. These opposition supporters have genuine support, they don’t need even a bottle of water from their Party,” Aber tweeted.
However, her tweet has been met with furious artillery unleashed on her by NRM Youth cadres who feel her criticism of their style was uncalled for since the country is in a scientific campaign period that doesn’t require people to go on the ground because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sam Evidence, a renown online brigade ‘Lieutenant’ posted on Facebook, “There’s too much on her plate disturbing her just.”
“You are in a position of privelage (sic) and a mobiliser; you want to tell the world not actually the @NRMOnline party that you have failed to do your duties. @LillianAber, really…?” Solomon Male, another online brigade foot soldier replied to Aber.
Michael Wadada, another online brigade ‘general,’ posted the piece below bashing her;
“Dear Dr. Lillian Aber(Senior Presidential Advisor on youth affairs/Outgoing Chairperson National Youth Council and former President UNSA),
I trust you’re well and hope you’re doubling your efforts in the aim to get to Parliament. I wish you best of luck in that regard.
I received your mockery reminder to NRM mobilisers and thought it wise to remind you of a few things by posing a few questions accordingly;
I have not heard you condemn the culture of overlooking cadres and glorifying new converts. Could it be coz you’re also a beneficiary of the same?
Need I remind you that this is a scientific campaign with keen focus of social media mobilization for our President?
Need I remind you that our party has been in power for 34 years and none of the opposition parties has enjoyed such a privilege?
What have you done in the past 4 years in regard to addressing the plight of cadres which I’m sure you well know about?
And lastly don’t you think that there’s missing piece in the puzzle as to why mobilisers think thatin such a time is when they can’t voluntarily mobilise for the party.? #M7IsMyPresident“
However, some party faithful agree with Aber arguing that NRM could be in for a shock if supporters dont do enough ground work.
