PHOTOS! Scores of FDC Supporters Arrested as Party President Nominations Come Close

1 Mins read

Police has arrested several supporters of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) including party spokesperson Ssemujju Nganda in a standoff at the party headquarters on Najjanankumbi.

Police has been camped at the FDC headquarters since last evening ahead of the Party President Nomination slated for today.

The arrested were making way to gather at the party headquarters from where they were planning to escort their presidential flag bearer Patrick Amuriat Oboi to Kyambogo for nomination.

Yesterday, the Electoral Commission warned against processions, although Amuriat came out publicly to say that he would hold one nonetheless.

By press time, Amuriat was still confined in his home by security forces and has been denied a pass to meet other party officials.

Leader of Opposition in Parliament Betty Aol Ochan says she doesn’t know the whereabouts of the FDC flag bearer, less than 3 hours to his appointment with the EC.

Patrick Amuriat is scheduled for nomination at 12:00 midday.
