2 Mins read

The Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi has pointed out that the infrastructure the NRM government has put in his area makes it easy for him and president Museveni to successfully sail through the coming Elections.

While meeting the National Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), General Caleb Akandwanaho a.k.a Salim Saleh together with directors of OWC from the greater Masaka districts, Ssekandi, urged the electorate against losing focus on leaders who are development oriented for self-seekers.

He also informed the people that the NRM government has finalized efforts to work on a number of essential roads in the area like Diimu-Kyanamukaaka-Bukunda and Malembo roads.

Ssekandi is currently the Member of Parliament for Bukoto Central a position he hopes to retain in the upcoming elections.

He also informed the electorates under his current term as MP, most villages are now connected to the National power grid and plans are under way to extend piped water in the Constituency.

The Vice President, who together with Gen. Saleh  toured a number projects aimed at economically empowering people in area, expressed optimism that OWC will aid the area to get a glass making factory given the huge sand deposits at Diimu Landing Site.

While at Diimu, the people reported to the Vice President the rampant insecurity caused by fish mongers from a neighboring country as well as harsh regulations from the country’s security officials that stopped jobs for women like fish smoking, despite engaging in trade of the approved fish sizes by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries.

Gen. Salim Saleh called on the security leaders at the landing site to restore parity of jobs to bring about a win-win situation and pledged to help the people at the landing site to get a fish processing plant and also empower traders to preserve fish.

He expressed immense gratitude to the Vice President for providing leadership after finding a number of coffee plantations in the region, which cash crop, he said has been the backbone of Uganda’s economy.

The Vice President with his guest also visited a poultry feeds small scale enterprise whose target is crushing lake shore shells and silver fish into nutritional animal and poultry feeds.

Gen. Salim Saleh also promised to help the group acquire a modern processing plant and offered to bring experts to enable them to better mix their feeds to come up with a holistic nutrients product.
