The former president of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Dr. Kizza Besigye has ended the speculation as to whether he will be picking nomination forms to contest against President Museveni in the forthcoming elections.
While addressing the media at the party headquarters today, Besigye has made it clear that he is not contesting for presidency come 2021.
He said he is ready to support other people to ensure that that president Museveni is kicked out of the state house come 2021.
Besigye closed the party’s nomination process with a keynote address where he said that he will support the FDC candidate, but he won’t contest.
“Today I came to be part of you as we flag off the process of ‘Channel A’ to continue. I can tell you that I have every confidence in our leaders. I am not going to contest in the 2021 general elections,” he said.
According to Besigye, he is still in the struggle to make sure that Ugandans are freed from what he called captivity.
“Some will be operating in Channel A, and other in Channel B but Channel B will support Channel A,” Besigye said.
Besigye also reiterated that he won the 2016 elections and should be the legitimate president of Uganda, not Museveni.
Besigye, who is a consistent contender against President Museveni garnered 35.4 percent of the vote while Museveni was declared winner with 60.8 percent in 2016.
