Local rapper, Shafiq Walukagga famously known by his stage name Fik Fameica is sweating plasma after a Mbarara based woman activist and lawyer moved to ban his songs.
Fik Fameica has been sued alongside his producer Martin Musoke and Uganda Communication commission.
The affidavit sworn by Nagasha Prasidia and filed at Kampala High Court Civil Division reveals that the songs violate of rights of women and girls in Uganda
In the affidavit, Nagasha opines that Fik Fameica songs; My Woman is My Property, Kutama, Byenyenya, are morally wanting thus demean, undermine and discriminate against women and girls in Uganda.
Nagasha revealed that Fameica’s Song ‘My Woman is my Property’ equates women to property worthy purchasing and owning especially in lyrics where he depicts women as chapatti, Yogurt and Buggatti.
The female lawyer says that the song has led to public outcry in women and girls that need to be banned for violating their rights and be withdrawn from all electronic and media platforms.
She therefore wants court to prohibit Fameica and producer Musoke from singing, recording and producing songs that undermines the status of women and girls in society.
She also wants them to issue an apology and further pull down the songs from social media and streaming platforms.
Nagasha has also blamed the Uganda Communications Commission for failing to take action against the illegal actions of promoting the culture of discrimination through Fameica’s songs.
