Police in Wakiso are investigating the murder of Mwanjeri Namanja ,25 who was axed to death by her boyfriend Idi Kifuse on Sunday.
According to the Kampala metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, it is alleged that the incident took place at Gimbo village Lukwanga Parish Wakiso sub county in Wakiso district where the deceased was staying and she might have been killed at about 9:25am in the morning.
“Kifuse had gone to resolve a family wrangle with the deceased. The suspect later picked an axe and hit the deceased continously until she died,”Owoyesigyire said.
He said the force was later called in and they responded and the officers rescued Kifuse, who was being beaten by an angry mob. Owoyesigyire added that he was taken to Mulago Hospital where he is being treated.
“Police scene of crime officers have recovered an axe that the suspect used to kill the victim at the scene ,” Owoyesigyire added.
Kifuse is being held on murder offences as investigations go on.
