“Bobi Wine Made The Right Move,” Doreen Nyanjura

The deputy Kampala Lord mayor, Doreen Nyanjura, has said that political parties are training grounds for any political leadership anywhere in the world for better governance. 

Her remarks came shortly after Kyadondo East legislator and presidential aspirant , Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine unveiled the National Unity Platform (NUP) as the new political wing of his People Power movement ahead of the 2021 general election.

“Political Parties are the best training grounds/academies for Political leadership anywhere in the world, if good people do not take charge of them, they can only be as bad as those who manage them,”said Nyanjura in a statement.

According to Nyanjura, Bobi Wine made a right decision and launching a political party was indeed another milestone in his political journey. 

“In Uganda specifically, the return of Political Parties was a result of a bitter struggle in the courts of law, on the streets and even in Parliament,” She said. 

She scoffed at opportunists who had already campaign posters with People Power symbol.

“Those I respect so much in People Power had not yet made campaign posters with the People Power symbol, the opportunists had already made campaign posters with People Power/FDC, People Power/DP etc,”she said.
