Uganda’s cabinet is in coronavirus panic mode after it emerged that one of the ministers has a close family member who recently returned from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

According to reports, Bukonzho East lawmaker Atkins Katusabe is among those who returned from Dubai.

Records indicate that Atkins returned to the country on 15th March 2020.

UAE has now been marked among high risk countries in Uganda for the Corona virus after the country’s first patient arrived in the country from the middle east business Centre.

Atkins is said to be engaged to Minister Sarah Opendi who we have been told was on Monday barred from attending the cabinet meeting.

It is not clear whether she had attended other cabinet gathering before Monday.

The health ministry is calling upon all those who returned from Dubai in the month of March, to get assessed so they can be passed as coronavirus free.

Opendi was on Wednesday seen roaming around parliament and even attended the plenary sitting raising fear that the whole executive and legislature could be subjected to a coronavirus test if Atkins reports for the assessment.

According to the ministry of health, those who returned are assessed including their next of Kin who interacted with them.

It does not stop at next of kin but a tracking system is also in play to make sure those who came into contact with them are screened.

State Minister for Youth Affairs Nakiwala Kiyinji, reports say is also among those whose hubby returned from Dubai in the month of March.

On Wednesday, Uganda announced that its coronavirus patients had climbed to 14 after announcing five new cases that included an 8-month-old baby.
