At some point, many critics argued that the Political Command Centre, NBS had poached more talent than it could handle at a given time, and it seems they were not entirely wrong.
In the past eight months, NBS have lost over four journalists all leaving to pursue greener pastures, as rumours of stagnancy at the Television Station continue to flood social media.
Joseph Sabiiti
About four months ago, Joseph Sabiiti tendered in his resignation from NBS television where he was a journalist, reporter, columnist, and producer of the TV’s leading political show, The Frontline.
Joining Action AID as a communications officer, he sent his workmates a short but deep message.
“Good afternoon, I will be taking a break from active Journalism for a while,” read Sabiiti’s WhatsApp message to fellow staff. “Thank you for the amazing four years at Media Plaza, it has been every inch worth it and Next Media will always remain home,” he added.
Sheila Tusiime Mugisha
Sheila is probably the biggest loss or blow that Kamwokya based TV, NBS has faced so far.
Sheila allegedly left the TV station after landing an interview with President Museveni, an act that didnt sit well with her bosses thus causing her to quit.
It should be remembered that Sheila was not just a beautiful face on TV but also a well connected, and experienced journalist, perhaps the senior most journalist at the TV station by the time she quit.
Qatahar Mujuni Raymond
This is perhaps the latest journalist to leave Next Media’s NBS TV barely a year after he was poached from Nation Media Group’s NTV.
Mujuni, tendered in his resignation not so long ago after being head hunted by Nation Media Group to lead political reporting ahead of the 2021 general elections.
Raymond has added a lot to NBS’ investigative desk bringing forth indepth and well researched stories that have made him a personal favourite among the populace.
Solomon Sserwanja
The Komla Dumor award winner is said to have been the latest journalist to quit NBS. Our sources intimated to us that he has already tendered in his resignation letter and he is looking for greener pastures.
Word has it that Solomon was given a juicy deal by a media company in Nairobi, and this led to his quitting NBS TV.
These join the likes of Simon Muyanga Lutaaya, Darren Kyeyune, John Baptist Imokola and Abubaker Ssettumba Ttaaba among others to leave that station also famed for poaching seasoned journalists from other media houses.
