I Don’t Need Government Protection – Bobi Wine

1 Mins read

Kyadondo East legislator and leader of the People Power Movement Robert Kyagulanyi commonly known as Bobi Wine has rejected government’s recent offer of security.

This came shortly after State Minister for Internal Affairs Obiga Kania revealed that the state would protect the singer, during a hearing in the Parliamentary Defence committee last week.

However, while meeting different groups across the country over the weekend, Kyagulanyi said he does not need protection from the government.

“Do you want to give me security like the way you gave it to Muhammad Kirumira? Do you want give me protection like the way you gave Joan Magezi? You claim to give me security and started with my driver Yasin Kawuma,” he said.

He also said that he is ready to fight on until political change is achieved in the country. “We are being threatened with death because if you don’t have freedom of expression, then you are long dead,” he said.

James Mubiru, a People Power supporter noted that the Kyagulanyi will be protected by his supporters and there is no need for government intervention. “Bobi Wine is protected by the Ugandans and above all we are covered by the blood of Jesus, for us who believe in him,” he said.
