NTV Journalist Explains How He Survived Death From Panga Wielding Thugs

The Former presenter of radio Simba, Kyeyune Ivan also the voice and the brain behind NTV’s Zungulu which is aired every Friday, narrowly survived death after being attacked by unknown thugs over the weekend.

Mr Kyeyune who was heading to Namugongo in Wakiso District where he resides got a boda boda from Tuskys Supermarket in Ntinda, Kampala.

On his way back home, he was attacked by unknown Panga wielding men, the thugs tried to cut his hand as another tried to cut him from the head but the panga got his hand nearly cutting it off.

Kyeyune is currently out of danger and was discharged from the hospital on Sunday.

He told The Daily Monitor that on the fateful day, he boarded a random boda boda motorcycle after his car developed a mechanical problem.

“I survived narrowly. On Friday night, it rained a lot. My car had a problem so I requested for an Uber and all cars were cancelling but I think it is because the network was overwhelmed. After waiting for an hour,” he narrated

He added: “I decided to just take a boda boda because I thought it could rain until morning,” Mr Kyeyune said.

Hardly did he know that the cyclist he picked would turn out to be one of his assailants,”

He said upon reaching the Ntinda Y-junction, the motorcyclist decided to take the Kyambogo route instead of Kiwatule road which had less traffic jam.

No sooner had they joined the route than he noticed another motorcycle carrying two other passengers coming from the opposite direction that’s when he sensed danger

He said after sensing danger, he jumped off the motorcycle, one of the passengers on the other motorcycle also jumped off with a panga in his hands.

He explained that the guy ran towards him and directed the machete at his head.

In attempt to protect himself more especially the head, that’s when he raised his left hand which was cut.
