Residents of Makindye Division turned rowdy over the weekend after promises of cash handouts from Presidential adviser Catherine Kusasira did not materialise.
These groups of youth who converged at St Agnes church Makindye were expecting Catherine Kusasira to be the chief guest at a function where they hoped to receive cash handouts.
The locals who had waited patiently later turned rowdy after receiving information that Kusasira was not aware of the meeting that was organised.
“They are just playing political games with us because they lied to us, we are not happy, they are looking for our votes, why have they registered us if they were not going to give us money?” one of the youth asked.
Business came to a standstill for nearly two hours as people demanded an explanation from the organisers.
However, some youth called upon Kusasira to quickly come out and clear her name with immediate effect.
“Kusasira should come out and clear her name, these people registered like 180 people to receive money they are playing around with us, we are annoyed,” another youth added.
Speaking to Kusasira, she distanced herself from the organisers of the meeting referring to them as conmen who only used her name to defraud the youths.
“I didn’t promise people money, that person who has been mobilising people; I don’t really know him and never seen him before,” she said.
She also noted that there are some people who are trying to tarnish her name.
