Jimmy Walugembe, 29, a teacher at Springfield International School was arrested for defiling an eight year-old school girl that studies at the school, and is being currently held at Katwe Police Station. Walugembe is alleged to have lured the victim into a toilet where he sexually abused her.
According to police, Walugembe has been charged with Aggravated Defilement since medical examinations confirmed that the girl was infected with HIV and attained a ruptured hymen.
The Head teacher of the school, Mutebi Moses has also been arrested for trying to cover up the crime by not reporting his employee to the authorities as soon as possible.
“We want to thank all stakeholders who took interest in this matter and brought it to the attention of the police, after several attempts to compromise the incident, with a written agreement between the three parties of parents, the school and the teacher,” said Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga.
