Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon Francis Zaake   has on Sunday given out 17 motorcycles to the youths of sixth Battalion in Mityana Municipality.

According to Hon Zaake, this was the second giving out such items in addition to the 25 motorcycles and a vehicle that he gave out to the same members of the group.

Sixth battalion is the group of youths in Mityana Municipality that was initiated by Zaake Zivuge foundation to alleviate poverty among the youths through empowering them to be financially self-sustaining.

The group organized themselves and formed a SACCO and for one to join it, there is a small subscription fee.

The group has helped its members to develop a financial base.

Hon Zaake stated that he believes that giving out boda bodas is not the best way to create jobs for the youths in this constituency.

“Giving out boda bodas is not the best way to create jobs for the youths but the prevailing circumstances place us in a position to afford just that for now,” he said

He stated that it’s his obligation to encourage all the youths within his constituency to join SACCOs

He added that when People Power takes over the leadership of this country, better alternatives will be made available.

He further urged everyone to do whatever that is in their reach to awaken those that are not yet registered to do so in the ongoing registration for the National Identification Cards
