President Yoweri Museveni has left for London, the British Capital, to attend a conference on Illegal World Wildlife Trade.
Presidency Minister, Hon. Esther Mbayo, saw off the President at Entebbe International Airport this morning.
Others included Head of Public Service, Mr. John Mitala, Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, Lt. Gen. Wilson Mbadi, Inspector General of Police, Mr. IGP Martin Okoth Ochola and Director of Prisons In-Charge of Production and Engineering, Mr. Nsalasatta David.
According to reports, the world is currently faced with an unprecedented spike in illegal wildlife trade that is threatening to overturn decades of conservation gains.
Ivory that is conservatively estimated to weigh more than 23 metric tonnes – a figure that is representative of 2,500 elephants – was seized in the 13 largest seizures of illegal ivory in past 5 years.
