Fourteen people awaiting a Backstreet Boys concert Saturday evening at WinStar World Casino and Resort were injured after a storm caused part of a structure to collapse.
Around 5:00 p.m., an outdoor coliseum for a Backstreet Boys concert with special guest 98 Degrees was evacuated due to an approaching storm, said Kym Koch, with WinStar World Casino and Resort.
The casino says about 150 patrons who were standing in line for the concert “did not heed staff’s warnings.”
According to the casino, the storm knocked over concert entrance trusses with 70 to 80 mph winds around 5:30 p.m. WinStar says 14 people we treated at the scene and then taken to area hospitals.
The Backstreet Boys performance was postponed.
“Tickets to the August 18 show will be honored at a new date,” the casino said.
