Killed UPDF officers Brought Home

8 bodies of UPDF soldiers who were killed by Al-Shabaab militants have today afternoon been brought home.

The remains were put in Military ambulance and transported to Bombo military hospital.

Al-Shabaab militants on Sunday attacked based of UPDF soldiers in Somalia killing 8 and injuring many.

“On Easter Sunday our soldiers in Somalia heroically gave serious blows to Al-Shabaab, killing 36 of them and destroying six vehicles full of explosives. This was because they were alert.” Tweeted President Museveni before adding that; “Unfortunately, two vehicles of the enemy entered one of the three sites attacked. One vehicle was detonated and killed eight of our soldiers. May their souls rest in eternal peace. I extend condolences to their families.”

“It is gratifying, however, that the bold but adventurous strategy of Al-Shabaab failed. With constant vigilance, victory is assured. I congratulate our soldiers for the good work they did yesterday, the death of eight of our soldiers notwithstanding.”

AMISOM troops fought off and successfully repulsed the terrorists who had launched simultaneous attacks on Forward Operating Bases in Quoryole, Bulomareer, and Golwein.

The militants were dealt a heavy blow, with at least 30 of them put out of action, following intense fighting.

Eight vehicles which ferried the terrorists, including two Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Devices were destroyed and an assortment of weapons recovered.
