Museveni salutes Xi Jinping on Chinese New Year

President Yoweri Museveni has commended the continued warm and cordial relations that China and Uganda have enjoyed since Uganda attained independence in 1962.

In a message to his Chinese counterpart, President Xi Jinping, on the occasion of the celebrations of the Chinese New Year 2018, known as The Year of the Dog, President Museveni observed that the relations between the two countries are hinged on strong desire for peace, stability and development for both two peoples and the global humanity.

He said: “My Government is proud to associate with the People’s Republic of China on the occasion of the celebrations marking the Chinese New Year 2018 – The Year of the Dog.

Uganda and China continue to enjoy warm and cordial relations since independence. Our bilateral relations are hinged on strong mutual desire for peace, stability and development for both our peoples and the global humanity.

I, therefore, take this opportunity to wish you a joyous celebration and also renew my Government’s commitment and assurance to Your Excellency and the People of China, for further cooperation.

While wishing you good health and prosperity in this New Year, please accept, Your Excellency, the assurance of my highest consideration.”
